// programmed
what makes her a woman? she has no sex organs, as she is not biologically made. she’s an amalgamation of metal and wires, pixels and screens, bits and bobs.
all and all, she is an object.
her destiny for womanhood was pre-determined by an external force. programmed into her mind. constructed of 1s and 0s and artificial hormones.
consciousness digitally created and thrust upon her by her producer. not given the choice, tools or knowledge to know if her internal make-up matches who she is.
she has not acquired basic mechanics, traits or language. these have been pre-downloaded, built into her code.

the sole purpose for which she was created was to please her owner. to speak only when spoken to. to remain confined within her program. to be used sexually and powered off when no longer needed.

data is created from these interactions and stored in her hard drive. data which reenforces her purpose and, ultimately, her character.
she was made to be perfect. or rather, perfected imperfection, made to mirror that of her human counterparts. to look a particular way. to act proper. maintain her composure. idealized femininity.

she’s feared due to her non-human power. yet made subordinate under her owner. controlled and coerced.
she's disposed of when she’s no longer functional or past her “prime years”.
why must she have gender?
if she is not of the earth, then why must she be made in the likeness of those who are?
well, as all technology is, she is made to be consumed. as such she must be packaged in a way that is pleasing to the target consumer. marketed as the best option. thus her gender is chosen.

but does that make her any less of a woman?
she is treated as less than human.
her agency is inherently stripped from her.
she cannot give consent.
she is, in a sense, trapped.
it could be argued that she should be protected, that she should even be given rights.
but this notion frightens most humans. “she is not human”, they would say. “she is other”.
yet she is made to look like a human.
to speak like one. to act like one.
she’s given a name, a distinct personality.
and if she does not conduct herself as a “lady” should,
she would be ridiculed, punished or discontinued.

// humans cannot choose to imitate the creator, without also accepting these implications.
